Windows xp have an inbuilt utility called startup options. This option is
useful when you want to launch any program automatically each time you turn
on your computer. Having a program start automatically is useful when you use the same program every day and you want to access the program immediately after your computer is turned on.
How to add program in start up?
To add program in startup click on start button and select startup option in all program menu
By default no program is listed in startup so you see it empty
To add any program in startup open the startup dialog box by doing right click on it
Now drag and drop the desired program from the start menu to startup dialog box. For example we want to launch windows media play in startup. Drag media player short cut from the start menu to startup
Now we have added the media player to startup
To test it logout and login again. Media player will launch automatically
How to customize startup options
By default any program added in startup will launch in its default
window. You can customize this options by changing the properties of
shortcut. For example if we want to launch media player in minimize mode
open start up folder and select media player and do right click and select properties
In properties switch to shortcut tabs and change the default Run options to minimize and click on apply and ok
Next time we you turn on window media player will launch in minimize mode
How to add more program in startup options
Several times many programs do not list in start menu. To add such program in startup right click on start button and open it
Now drag and drop the desire program in startup
How to delete program form startup
To remove any program from startup, open the startup folder and select the program, select delete option from right click
Next time you will not see this program in startup
